Afghan Allies Out of War – Policy Paper

In a collaborative effort, Trust after Betrayal and Honor the Promise proudly present a comprehensive policy paper titled “Addressing the Needs of the Afghan Special Operations Forces Community and their Families in the United States.” This groundbreaking document delves into the challenges confronting former Afghan National Army Special Operations Command (ANASOC) soldiers who have resettled in the U.S. following the tumultuous events in Afghanistan. Drawing insights from interviews and surveys with 36 veterans, the research exposes issues such as leadership dynamics, evacuation disparities, family reunification struggles, language barriers, and psychosocial stress. The policy paper outlines key recommendations, including the designation of ANASOC veterans for Special Immigrant Visas, streamlining family reunification processes, facilitating military service pathways, providing language and education support, and establishing comprehensive psychosocial service frameworks. These proposed measures not only pay homage to the sacrifices made by these veterans but also bolster national security, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to the growth of the American workforce. This policy paper is a testament to the commitment of Trust after Betrayal and Honor the Promise to advocate for the well-being and successful integration of the Afghan Special Operations Forces community in the United States.
